Yep, we all have them. It was my turn now. I didn't anticipate it being a Horrible day, maybe a bad one though...This entry is for journal entry purposes. It's long, boring and has no pictures. It's OK that you skip reading this one!
Austin had been complaining that his left side hurt for over a week. I kept an eye on him, but I could see no visible sign of injury and he never developed a high temperature. Twice I caught him grabbing his side and contorting his face like he was in pain. So on Monday (10-20-08) I made an appt with his pediatrician. After examining him, it was thought that it may be nothing more than constipation. So I was told to get some prune and apple juice to mix together and see if that helped him. But just to be thorough, they gave him a cup to pee in. He thought that was cool!
After leaving the hospital with my two boys in tow, I decided to stop at Macey's on the way home to pick up his juice. I had just made a left hand turn at a protected light on to State St. and pulled into the far right lane so I could turn into the Grocery Store's parking lot. I was slowing to make the turn, when I got struck from behind. Another car had followed me into that lane and she said she was aware that I was making the turn so she went to brake and her foot slipped off and she ran into me. I feel terrible for her too, for I know how it feels to cause an accident.
On impact I immediately got a headache and pain in my neck, and then in my upper back, then my lower back. As I was standing outside my car to exchange information, my 3 yr old, Austin unbuckled his seatbelt, took my keys from the ignition and gave them to Jack, my almost 2 yr old, and jumped out of the car and closed the door. Jack was still locked in his carseat, where he proceeded to push the lock button on my FOB for the next 10 min, until he got bored and threw the keys on the floor. He fell asleep by the time the police officers arrived and were able to get the car unlocked. In the meantime, I was trying to keep Austin from running in to State St. traffic.
I went to the Chiropractor to get x-rays of my neck and back and to get the boys examined. Luckily the boys are fine. They are running, jumping and acting like themselves! While at the office we received a call from the pediatrician letting us know that there was microscopic traces of blood in the urine. More good news, I'm sure. At that time, we still did not know what that meant really, but the doc said they were going to watch it over night to make sure something did or did not grow, which was good or bad...See...I dunno really.
So that was my bad day Monday.
Since this event we have been dealing with insurance, medical follow ups and a bit of pain. The lab for Austin's urine came out clean, so they had no reason for concern that it was an infection. Great. So you know what it's NOT. So tell me what it IS.
The insurance people so far have been very nice and easy to deal with. Now we have to figure out a time we can take the car in to get the car checked out. I know this isn't even close to being over.
And as for the pain I have. Who knows. At first, Dr. Free was concerned I might have a compression fracture in a vertebrae in my upper back. I do have a lot of pain there. However, when he took a second x-ray of it, he no longer was so concerned. I did not see the 2nd x-ray, so I'll ask him to see it next time. I'm relieved, but that doesn't make the pain go away! I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks of treatments. But I am glad it is not worse than originally anticipated.
"Rainy days and MONDAYS always get me down..." :o)
I'll keep posting how everything is going. Hopefully we'll get through this smoothly. Here's to hoping!

Picture Tag
This tag is kind of fun! Just go to your picture files and click on your 4th file and download the 4th picture! I tag everyone, cause this is a good one to be tagged for! :o)
This picture was taken 3 years ago of Austin eating cereal for the first time! Yes! We were feeding him out of a measuring cup! I didn't have little bowls yet, and it seemed to work perfect! LOL!

I'm too quirky for my blog, Andrea tagged me
I was tagged to blog about 6 quirky things I do...hmm...let me think. I should have Robert blog about my quirks. Usually what I feel like is normal and acceptable behavior, he feels like is "eye-rolling" worthy. (You know what I mean!)
1) When I sit down on a chair I can never keep both feet on the floor. Unless I'm at church, in a dress, you will usually find me sitting cross-legged, or Indian style as I grew up calling it, (even at the dinner table) or with my feet up on a chair, the dashboard, or my hubby's lap! For those of you wondering, I am currently cross-legged sitting on the chair at the computer desk!
2) This next one comes from watching my dad...I will pull a clean cup out of the cupboard and smell the inside of it and then rinse it out. I really don't know why I picked that up. My dad always did it. I guess I was curious to what he was smelling or something. The cups were always clean. Robert still teases me about that one. The funny thing is, I'm not the only kid who picked up on it. I saw my 19 yr old sister do it the other day at my parent's house. LOL!
3) I don't know if this counts as quirky or not, but it is unusual. When I was pregnant with Jack I developed a weird hive condition. Now whenever I get cold I break out in hives all over. The most embarrassing time was when I went to the zoo with my family and I broke out all over my face. It looked like I was having an allergic reaction to something. The worst time was when Robert surprised me with a cabin get-a-way and 4-wheeling (in a snow covered Wyoming Forest) for our anniversary last year. It was way fun, but after driving around for hours my legs were so swollen and I scratched them so hard I made them bleed. Ouch!
4) I like to dress up my family in themed costumes for Halloween! The Halloween just before Robert and I were married I was Miss. America and he was Mr. USA! Last year we were pirates from The Pirates of the Caribbean. Jackson was Capt. Jack and Austin was Jack-the monkey pirate! (I have pictures of us in one of my first blog posts).
This year we are characters from Peter Pan. This was Austin's idea and he delegated the costumes. He is Peter Pan. Jack is a lost boy (dressed as an animal). Robert is Capt Hook and I am tinker bell...yeah...that should work out nice :oP
5) I love frogs! I don't have a live one...I just like them as toys and stuffed animals and carvings and fountains and jewelry and patterns and key chains and picture frames and story books, etc. I have a bunch from all over! Thanks to my way awesome friends and family who think of me when they see a frog item in a far off and/or fun place! :o)
6) If someone says a line, quote, phrase, or a catchy word that is part of a song, I will indeed sing it out loud to them. One of my all time favorite childhood games was to think of a word, any word, then have a race to think of a song with that word in it. Wanna play?! Ready.... "RING" (it's in the song I'm listening to now! Reply and tell me a song with "ring" in it!)
Alrighty then. Is that it? I'm sure those are not the best/most annoying quirks I have, but that's what I could think of now with my brain slowly going into shutdown mode at 2:00 in the morning! :o) Maybe that's another quirk. That I live in the early AM.
So now I tag 5 people. I tag Marie, Triston, Kenna, Jen and Erica. Have fun blogging! :o)
Ok...I tag EVERYONE who wants to be tagged. My 5 original tags have yet to post! :o)
